The Chesterfield Canal
Turnerwood - Norwood Tunnel
This is the first of two staircase locks called Thorpe Double Bottom. The small hamlet of Turnerwood is just beyond the bridge
Browns lock is almost complete. Unfortunately, the lock was subject of pre meditated vandalism, with all the balance beams lopped off with a chainsaw (see Waterways World May 2000 page 38)

Looking up from Plane Bridge, Thorpe Top Triple Locks
Above Thorpe Top Triple Locks, the next 2½ miles, the canal has been dredged all the way up to Norwood Tunnel. The picture above is the bricked up eastern portal.
The canal is now open to Norwood Tunnel.
